The Ford Falcon (XC) is a full-size car that was produced by Ford Australia from 1976 to 1979. It was the third and last time of the third era of this Australian-made model and also included the Ford Fairmont (XC)--the luxury-oriented version of the Falcon.OverviewThe XC series was a facelift of the XB Falcon, itself an upgrade of the XA Falcon which got entered production 39 years ago. Launched in July 1976, the XC was the first model to comply with the new pollution restrictions specified under Australian Style Rule 27A. The response to the first of Come july 1st 1976, mandatory anti-pollution regulations (ADR 27A), was to redevelop the Falcon half a dozen cylinder engines with a cross-flow head for better efficiency.Visually, the XC Falcon was given a restyle treatment. The XC recently had an less aggressive nose area which incorporated two circular headlights on Falcon models and two rectangular headlamps on Fairmont models. Ford also addressed the eyesight problems of the XA and XB by going to great expense and redesigning the rear door windows and installing an all-new dash and putting in higher front seats. The Fairmont GXL was substituted in the following XD range with the Fairmont Ghia model.GS Rally Load upA GS Rally Pack was fitted as standard equipment on the Falcon GS Hardtop and was available as an option on Falcon five-hundred Sedan and Wagon, Fairmont Sedan and Wagon, Falcon Utility and Van [6] and on Falcon 500 Utility and Van.[6] The pack included special paint treatment, bonnet scoops, bumper overriders, slotted steel tires, increased instrumentation, a sports activities steering wheel and long range driving lights. The driving lights were not included when the rest was installed to Fairmont models.Limited edition modelsFord Falcon CobraIn August 78 Ford Australia introduced the limited production Falcon Naja, a high-performance version of the XC Falcon Hard top. Only 400 were built, including 4. 9-litre and 5. 8-litre street types and 30 "Bathurst Specials".[7] [8]Allan Moffat SpecialIn 1977 a limited amount (500) of the Falcon 500 sedan were promoted as Allan Moffat Special's. These cars received XB GT-style blackouts and a sticker on the entrance doors consisting of Allan Moffat's signature and an Australian flag, as well as other options including the GS Rally pack and Sports handling suspension as standard. [9]Sundowner VanThe Falcon Sundowner Van, based on the Falcon 500 Van, was introduced in 1977. This included options from the Falcon GS Hardtop, such as comprehensive instrumentation, hood scoops, slotted sports street wheels and driving lighting, with side protection moulding? s and rear side glass deleted. Side and rear decals were contained in the package.
